16 Week Bump

July 30, 2009 By Dusty Rogers 53 Comments

I’ve got to show you my CRAZY 16 week baby bump! Now this may be a little TMI, but I have no problem going there.

I’ve noticed that when I need to pee REALLY badly my belly sticks out way more than usual. So far G’s the only one who’s seen the proof first-hand, and when I try to describe this phenomenon to other people they’re skeptical. So last week–at 16 weeks pregnant–I decided I had to get the proof on film.

Here’s my 16 week bump normally:

Now here’s what just blows my mind–this is my belly after I chugged a bunch of water and waited until I had to pee really bad:

And then here it is again 2 minutes later after I went to the bathroom:

Where the heck did it go? Isn’t that crazy??

Week 16 – 17 I noticed a “phantom” belly a lot too. After I ate or needed to go to the bathroom, it would be huge, then I would wake up in the morning and it would be gone. I popped finally at around 19 weeks. You are too cute!

That’s nuts. I think it has something to do with the position of the bladder/uterus. What a cool experiment!

WTF?! I wonder if this will continue through your whole pregnancy.

Also, this was a really fun science experiment. Maybe the kid can tack these photos to a poster board and call it a day the first time the elementary school science fair rolls around.

I’m 24 weeks pregnant and the only time you can tell I’m pregnant is right after I eat! It’s funny how our bodies work sometimes.

That is kind of crazy but I know where you’re coming from. I’m not pregnant but if I have to pee really bad and wait my belly expands and I seriously look prego.

That’s me. It started at 16 weeks…by then end of the day I look a good 7 or 8 months pregnant. In the mornings I’m back down to nothing. I’ve gotten quite used to it but think it’ll hit me when it doesn’t disappear in the morning.

Gotta love our preggo bodies! Its actually quite normal, and much more obvious on a slim person! Your bladder sits basically under and behind your uterus, so when your bladder is full, it will push your uterus out. As baby grows, baby will push back on your bladder and you might find you will have to pee much more frequently, as the uterus will overpower your bladder. Oh the joys of pregnancy!

You look fabulous- full bladder or not!
