Like my new jacket? This is one of my latest purchases which will hopefully continue to fit me through the fall season. It’s pretty roomy so I think my chances are good. I just love it!
Jacket: Old Navy
Top: New York & Company
Jeans: Gap
Shoes: Nicole
Pregnancy: 15 weeks
And just like I predicted in this post, I can no longer get these jeans–my favorite pair–buttoned without feeling uncomfortable.
Time to make elastic my new best friend!
I only needed about an extra inch of space in the waistband, and since I couldn’t find a rubber band small enough to loop through for a makeshift button, I decided to try a maternity band out. My friend Jill recommended this “Be Band” maternity band by the makers of the BellaBand, which I picked up for $17 at Target. It’s basically an elastic tube which you can either wear folded over (pic 1) or pulled all the way up over your belly (pic 2). The elastic is strong enough to hold your jeans up, but stretchy enough that it’s not uncomfortable on your belly or creates that dreaded muffin top look.

Here’s a close-up of the elastic over my button, which doesn’t quite reach it’s button hole anymore. They better get used to it, because those two won’t be coming together again for long time.
It’s taken a little bit to get used to and to find the right position to wear the band so it doesn’t get rolled up, but overall I like it. And I really like that it will allow me to keep wearing my regular jeans for a while longer.
And you’d never guess that I had a tube of elastic holding up these jeans, now would you?
I got my sister a Be Band and she really likes it.
You look great!
this one is too cute too! I am going to have to hit up Old Navy today!
I got your message about the photos.. i totally get how G won’t take them. My hubby does a long, deep sigh when i ask him to help me photograph for my blog!
That jacket is adorable, the color is great. I kinda wanna go buy one except I have a really hard time buying anything with sleeves when it’s 95 and muggy outside!
I love that jacket! And you look great!
Love the jacket! Now I need to go get one!
Love the jacket D, I may have to pick one of those up for my growing bump. The Be Band has been a lifesaver for me, I am at 19 weeks and still haven’t bought maternity pants yet. I bought one in white and in black.
Warmly,
Karen
Love the jacket! I’m going to have to go check it out. You look great!
you really look great!!
Love the jacket! Supercute outfit.
Good gravy! I lived in my Bella Band for my entire pregnancy, I think.
Pregnancy is looking good on you. You know the glow goes with everything.
That band is awesome! I love it! Great outfit!
Looks great! Those belly band things seem to be a life saver and they look like a long tank that actually fits against your body… love it! Your little belly is just so stinking cute! Love that teal jacket too! Very nice! I can’t wait to see that in the fall with a plum tight turtle neck… that would be darling!
Love the band! My friend has two – one in white and one in black. It just looks like she’s wearing a tank underneath her clothes and she is super comfortable!
In the side picture, it definitely looks like you’ve got the beginnings of a bump!!
I have the BeBand too, but honestly, I use hair ties much more often than I use the band.
So cute!
A mom I know in my area just started selling a product you might like…it’s basically a way to keep the band from rolling up–it’s great and cheap! Her website is: http://www.pocketdots.com/.
Geez, I feel like I need one of those today, and I’m not even pregnant!
such a gorgeous mama! i love love love the jacket and may have to go out and get one for myself! thanks for being such a fashion inspiration!
the bellaband and hair elastic were my best friends for so long b/c even though i’m normally hippy, when pg, my mat pants kept falling off my hips so i wore a lot of non-mat pants as long as i could!
Love the jacket- the color looks great on you!
So cute! And thanks for showing the belly band. I didn’t use one with Ethan because I didn’t know how it was supposed to work. Now I’ll be sure to try it the next time!
Wow, you look great! Can’t believe you are 15 weeks along.
I loved my belly band when I was pregnant and I didn’t fit into maternity yet but my regular clothes didn’t quite fit either!
Have you tried a hair elastic? You pull it halfway through your button hole and pull one side through the other to create the hold and then snap the loop that is going through around your button.
cute!! i love seeing your pregnancy style. i’m about 6mos and i could only use the be band for a short while. pretty soon my old jeans/pants wouldn’t fit over my thighs & arse – i swear that is where the baby is hiding!
And look at your abs! My god. I think you are going to be one of those mommies who bounces right back into her pre-baby body. In fact, you’ll probably even look better!
Cute jacket.

My sister got me the Be Band and it has been great.
Thanks so much for all your wonderful compliments everyone! It really makes my day. I hope all you girls looking for this jacket have luck finding it. I just checked online and it looks like it’s selling fast. Good luck!
@hopeful–A plum turtleneck sounds fabulous with this jacket. Great idea!
@Katy H–Those Pocket Dots sound great. Thanks for the link!
@hal-delicious–Yep, I’ve tried a hair tie, but for these jeans I couldn’t find one small enough. I only needed an extra inch or so, and all the hair ties I have kept falling off the button b/c they were too long. But luckily the belly band worked great for these. It’s certainly nice to have options!
@jbhat–I could kiss you. Thanks for flattering my poor soon-to-be stretch-mark covered stomach!
How! Do you still have abs at 16 weeks?! You suck but you are too adorable doing it! Look at that cute little baby figure. Oh, and the pee thing, totally strange but all too true!
