Week 18! Our baby is currently 5.5″ long and is developing yawning and hiccuping skills, and forming fingerprints. Not to mention moving around like crazy! I feel him/her all throughout the day now. I love our little baby more and more with each little thump!
Bump Analysis: 8 weeks (left) versus 18 weeks (right). I’m wearing the same pair of jeans in each picture so you can really see the difference. Grow baby grow!

I could barely sleep last night. Tomorrow morning is our appointment when we get to find out the gender of our baby and I am SO EXCITED!! I expected to have a hard time sleeping tonight due to the anticipation, but didn’t realize it would start two days ahead of time. I kept waking up and checking the clock to see if it was time to wake up yet, and then I’d have to remind myself that tomorrow is Thursday, not Friday (the day of our appointment) and to stop waking up! Yeah, that didn’t work. Guess I know what’s in store for me again tonight!

Today was one of the greatest days of my life–we found out we’re having a GIRL! We couldn’t be more thrilled! I wrote more about it (and included the latest ultrasound pictures) in this post, but forgot to add that everything still looks great! Our baby girl’s heart rate is 153bpm and she’s looking strong and healthy. We get another look at her in just over a week when we have our 20 week ultrasound–can’t wait!
Greg and I spent the entire day sharing our big news, and I couldn’t even get the words out without crying I was so happy! I’M GOING TO HAVE A DAUGHTER! All my life when I’ve pictured myself with a child it’s always been a little girl. I am so grateful for this amazing gift. (And now I’m crying again–jeesh!)
We went to Cosi for dinner (I’ve decided big fancy dinners are a complete waste of money now that I can’t enjoy them with a glass–or bottle–of wine) and enjoyed some pizza and oreo s’mores. The pizza was good but the s’mores were the best! They bring a miniature tabletop firepit out to your table along with a platter of s’mores fixings and you roast your own marshmallows and build your own s’mores right at your table. It’s delicious!

My sister Apryl and her son Rylee stopped by today and gave us our very first girl clothes–they are so cute!

G and I went to a movie this afternoon (we saw Funny People) and this little girl was once again just kicking away. She definitely loves the theatre!
I also spent the day working on the nursery–pouring over paint swatches, considering furniture arrangement–all that fun stuff. No decisions on anything yet, but I’m certainly having fun dreaming!

I am up at the freaking crack of dawn with my 4 month little girl now and I gotta tell ya… IT IS SO WORTH IT! Congratulations! You and your daughter are going to have SO much fun together!
Girls are SO FUN!!!!! Congrats!
Congrats on your baby daughter! Will you be posting name possibilities? And i CAN’T WAIT to see what you come up with for the nursery!!
And keep up the baby bump pics! LOVE THEM!
SO fun! That mini smore pit is awesome. Reminds me of that little ceramic campfire that holds a tealight. So excited for your little girl!
Fun! We just saw Funny People, too. It was strange seeing Adam Sandler so serious! Glad everything is going well, and loving all the updates
first of all – my stomach looks 18 months pregnant all the time…I just never knew the number so thanks.
Secondly – you are gonna be the most fabulous daughter/mother combo when it comes to all things fashion. The envy of the town, I am sure
XO – Katie
Hey D! I’m pumped about the lil girl!! Cant wait to see the nursery ideas.
PS – I never knew you were such a sap! Is it just the pregnancy hormones or are you generally a sentimental person??
I’m so happy for you! I’d feel the exact same way if I found out I was having a girl.
What names are you thinking of using?
You look great! We saw Funny People too this weekend.
Your enthusiasm is the best thing. I love it.

You are so lucky you get to feel your little girl!!!!!
I have an anterior placenta so I have barely felt her so far. I can certainly share your enthusiasm about having a little girl, I have always hoped and prayed for a daughter and am so happy to actually say we are having one too! It’s been a thrill so far to tell everyone, I am one proud mama!!!! I am so excited for you D!
Warmly,
Karen
are you nervous at all that bc you got your big u/s so early the gender might not be correct?? i feel like i know a good handful of ppl that got one at 18 wks, was told a girl but later found out in another u/s it was a boy….
A GIRL! YAYYYYYY! OMG I am thinking of all sorts of cute things for the photoshoot…maybe pink balloons, hmmm pink cupcakes???
OMG I am totalllllly excited!
Congrat on another great week, D! Your belly pics are too cute. Enjoy all the nursery planning and decorating. I’m sure no matter what you decide on it will look great.
PS – I wouldn’t even be shocked if you bought 64 sets of bedding to see which looks best
LOL
Congratulations! It will be so much fun to have a baby girl! Can’t wait to see your plans for the Nursery.
@Brakes and Gas–Aww..happy to hear you’re enjoying your wonderful new daughter! Congratulations!
@Ashely–I totally agree–it was strange seeing Adam Sandler in that role.
@Katie–You make me lol! I said the same thing about my friend Carri’s belly pic when she was 17 wks pregnant, lol! I think the only reason my 8 week pic doesn’t look bigger is b/c I had to give up alcohol–no more beer and wine belly!
@Jeremy and Mindy–OMG, it’s these DAMN HORMONES!! I don’t think I’m normally this sappy but these days it doesn’t take much to get the waterworks going! You know the previews for the movie “The Time Traveler’s Wife”? I cry every damn time I see that damn preview! Seriously! This had better not be permanent, lol!
@Karen–Yeah, our little girl must be sitting really up front b/c I feel her all day long. Last night she actually woke me up she was kicking me so hard–and I’m only at the start of week 19! I didn’t realize until recently that it’s less common to feel movement (and so much movement) as early on as I have. So I’m sure you’ll feel your little girl very soon! Let me know when you do–I love hearing other women’s pregnancy updates! š
@Anonymous–Good question! We’re pretty confident the u/s reading was right, but we actually have another u/s next week. It’s our big 20 week ultrasound where they look at every little thing and do all the measuring of the baby and all that. They’ll look at the gender again that day to confirm, which is nice. I don’t think the result will change, but I also don’t plan on committing to any “girl things” for the nursery until after that day–just to be sure!
@Melissa–You are too cute! I cant’ wait for the photo shoot–EEeee!!
@blondie–You know me too well, lol!
To everyone who asked about a name–we have one in mind, but I’m not sure we’re ready to share quite yet. Let me check with G and I’ll get back to ya! š
Cuuuute bump! and stripes
I love the smores idea — that looks fun! and delicious!
You look great, Dusty!! I love bump pics!
Thanks girls!
